Exciting New Norwegian Start-Ups

Famous for its fjords, oil, whale spotting and northern lights, Norway is an area full of exciting opportunities. Although oil is one of the biggest industries in Norway, new budding start-up companies are growing across the country, particularly in Oslo. In fact, it is the country putting the most amount of investment into start-ups in the Nordics. As we do a lot of recruitment in Norway, we thought we take the chance to highlight some of the exciting Norwegian start-ups. Here is a few of the most exciting video creation start-ups in Norway:

VIBBIO

Recently founded in 2016 in Oslo, Vibbio is a video creation platform aimed at businesses. Their mission is to make video creation accessible and affordable. They are looking at making more creative ways to make effective videos. Customers can have filming sessions and design workshops to help make quality videos. With their generic templates it makes it easy to put together videos without having difficulty editing them. Companies can also add brand guidelines; logo, font, colours so you can have brand consistency across all of your videos. They wanted to have a Scandinavian look and feel. So, to make the user experience excellent, they limit clutter and focus on a calm and inspirational work space.

STAAKER

Staaker have designed a drone with the aim of having you as the centre of the story. It makes filming yourself easy, as you are the centre of the shot and you can get the exact angles that you want. The founder created this idea after spending a day skiing and only had footage from his helmet and wanted something with him in the shot. He hoped he could have footage of him skiing, not just what he could see. After 50 prototypes, the final drone was built with a predictive tracking system which is fast, stable, robust, water resistant and has a long flight time.

THE FUTURE GROUP

The Future Group is a social entertainment platform that combines mixed reality with TV. People behind the camera can interact with objects in a virtual world. It is easily accessible software and services for virtual production that allows the creation of photorealistic graphics and visual effects in real-time. You can create videos using either a single camera or more complex multi-camera systems. So you don’t need any specialised hardware to use the Future Group.

WIRALCAM

Founded in 2016, Wiral has created a motorised camera system that can be easily attached to a wire which enables filming from a distance. The camera is the first ever portable, affordable and easy to set up camera system that allows you to get unique angles whilst filming. It is easy to use for both mobile and smaller cameras such as GoPro. To raise the funds, they set up a Kickstarter campaign in 2017, which managed to raise over $1 million.
