Whether you are trying to progress towards an executive job role or are just going for a different executive level role it’s important to prepare for your interview properly. You want to ensure you are prooving you have all the skills and experience that they are looking for. So here are a few tips to prepare for your executive job interview:

In-depth Research

For all interviews it is important to do your research on the company. But for executive level you need to have a strong understanding of the businesses aims, financial situation, the current board members and anything that is relevant for the job you are applying for. It might even be worth seeing what their competitors are doing. So ensure you have prepared for your executive job interview by researching thoroughly!

Confidence

You are trying to prove to the interviewer that you are strong enough to lead a team of people, so confidence is key! Show the interviewer that you have a strong leadership approach. Although it can be hard, try to have a strong confident posture and confidence in your voice, these small changes will make you seem much more comfortable in stressful situations. Remember you will most likely be working closely with the interviewers, so listen to them and prove you can work well together.

Leadership

In an executive interview, you are bound to be asked questions to find out what kind of a leader you are. So, make sure you have prepared for these types of questions. Your research of the company should show what type of a company they are and how your leadership techniques can fit in with them. If you get asked questions about a time you made a mistake or learnt a lesson as a manager, then think about how you can show how you took control and helped the situation.

Be yourself

It can be easy to just tailor all of your answers to be what think the interviewer wants to hear. But you should try to get the job by showing your own leadership techniques and skills. If you pretend to be someone you are not then you might find yourself not fitting in with the job or the company. Try to remember the interview is a two process and you need to ensure the job is still what you want.
