This week, Tesla have unveiled their latest invention; roof tiles with built-in solar panels.

The tiles will be made from glass, and have been created with intention of looking more attractive than traditional roof-based solar panels.

The launch, which took place in Universal Studios in Los Angeles, follows Tesla’s announced take over of energy firm Solar City.

Although no set price has been announced yet, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated the new tiles would be cheaper than fitting a traditional roof and then adding solar panels on top.

Alongside the launch of the solar tiles, Tesla also launched the Powerwall 2 – Tesla’s battery product which stores any surplus energy from the solar panels.

For anyone interested, the tiles will come in a variety of colours and styles; although a launch date is not yet known.
