Technology is a thriving industry, which means that tech hubs all over the world are growing – particularly in Europe. Luckily, there is plenty of opportunity to explore IT recruitment in a variety of European cities.

Amsterdam

Although Amsterdam is an extremely popular tourist destination, it also is a brilliant place for IT recruitment and for finding the perfect tech role as it houses over 600 IT companies.

Interestingly, the Dutch capital has some of Europe’s fastest broadband speeds, as well as a huge AM4 data centre, making Amsterdam one of the world’s largest internet hubs – ideal for successful tech companies.

Amsterdam also boasts one of ultimate places for optimal work-life balance and is considered one of the ‘most liveable’ cities in the world, which is a key factor to consider when relocating.

Berlin

Berlin is now considered the fastest growing tech hub in Europeas well as the number one choice for start-ups. The demand for Product Design / UX / UI is certainly rising, alongside Software Development roles too.

The mixture of a lower cost of living, and large amounts of tech talent makes Berlin an attractive place to start a tech company.

Stockholm

The job market in Stockholm is amongst one of the strongest in the world, as Programming and IT jobs are extremely high in demand. It is also home to eight tech unicorns – Spotify, Klarna and Skype.

Sustainability is extremely important to Swedish culture, especially in Stockholm. Tackling environmental issues and decreasing emissions is already on the agenda, and they have an official target to be CO2 free by 2040.

Zurich

Zurich is home to a variety of tech start-ups, specifically within fintech, crypto and blockchain technology. Big companies including Google, Apple and Facebook reside in Zurich, as well as Disney’s only European base.

Although Zurich is considered one of the most expensive places to live, its high salaries match the cost of living and even compete with those found in the San Francisco Bay area.

Popular specifically amongst Software Developers, the salaries are much higher than any other European country, ranging from 60,000 CHF – 120,000 CHF (1 CHF is equivalent to $1).

Paris

There are currently over 12,000 tech companies operating in Paris, thanks to the number of programmes introduced by the French government to help promote start-ups and SME’s. These include financial incentives with a research and employment tax credit.

Historically it was difficult to do business in Paris, however over the years the venture capital investments have increased, as well as the influx of specialists in the area.

You will find most of Paris’ exciting tech companies in the 9th Arrondisement within Silicon IX.

Thinking of relocating?

It is clear to see that many tech professionals choose to work in cities across Europe as IT recruitment opportunities are ceaseless. Most European cities also speak English, and more and more tech businesses are employing international talent, remotely or to relocate. It seems that they are recognising that the best IT talent isn’t always local.
