How To Follow Up After An Interview
After having the interview you’ve worked so hard to get and prepared for, you want to ensure you follow up after your interview. Following up after an interview proves that you really want the job and will remind the interviewer of your interview. It can be hard to know how to follow up with a good manner, how long should you leave it before following up? What should you say in the follow up message? Here’s a few easy tips to help you write a great follow up message after your interview.
Send it quickly
Send your follow up message shortly after your interview, ideally the same day. If the recruiter said it might take a while to get in touch with you, make sure you aren’t asking too much just say a quick thank you. If you can, send the thank you note the same day as the interview as this will show you really do want the job and keep you fresh in their mind.
Say thank you
Let your interviewer know that it was nice to meet them and that you look forward to speaking to them shortly. A small thank you is not only nice to receive but shows that you have great manners, are keen on getting the job and are on top of your work.
Connect Via LinkedIn
Connecting with interviewers is becoming increasingly popular. Even if you don’t get the job, they are still a great contact to have so connecting on LinkedIn is a way great way to stay in touch. It also allows the interviewer to be reminded of your skills and experiences when they look at your LinkedIn account.
Usually an interviewer will tell you roughly how long you will be waiting for news. So with your follow up, make sure you aren’t being impatient. A simple thank you is enough!
